Cristiano Ronaldo will not appear for Manchester United in their upcoming friendly match against Atletico Madrid, but the attacker goes down to Instagram to confirm that he will soon return to the squad. The Portuguese striker has been abandoned from the squad who will travel to Norway to take the Spanish side in a pre-season match.
Ronaldo has been linked to moving from Old Trafford this summer because he told the club that he wanted to leave and Atleti had been called as possible destinations, even though the Spanish team president insisted that they would not sign it.
Why was Ronaldo abandoned from the Utd Man’s squad?
Ronaldo has told United officials about his desire to move this summer after the failure to qualify for the Champions League.
The 37-year-old player was absent during United’s pre-season preparation because the club had given him a leave due to family problems.
The former Real Madrid star returned to United’s training place with his agent, Jorge Mendes, this week to hold talks with the situation.
United have not offered an update about why Ronaldo remained absent from the new squad and ten hag said that he did not know when the attacking star would join other team members.
United have stated that they will not let Ronaldo go this summer and Ten Hag even hinted that he could eventually extend his stay.
“Yes (he can live outside this season), but to be honest, of course I have signed here for three years, but in football it is also short -term. We have to win from the beginning. So I didn’t see that far, “he said.
‘On Sunday, the King plays!’
Ronaldo did offer some guarantees that he would soon return, commented on the Instagram post that he planned to take the field against Rayo on Sunday.
“On Sunday, the king played,” the star commented, in return for the post that doubted his future.
Who will travel with Man Utd to face Atletico Madrid?
While Ronaldo is still out of the team, United Boss Ten Hag has included his new signing in the team for a friendly match against the Madrid team.
Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia will all travel to Oslo.
United are also arranged to face Rayo Vallecano the next day, with some players who will not travel to Oslo will take the Spanish team at Old Trafford.
